Dr Tamaru graduated from Hiroshima University School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990. After working as a general Dentist in her hometown in Tokyo, Japan, she immigrated to Canada in 1999. She obtained her certificate to practice dentistry in Canada in 2003. Dr Tamaru is an active member of Royal College of Dental Surgeons, Ontario Dental Association, Ottawa Dental Society, Canadian Academy of Periodontics, American Prosthodontic Society and International Team for Implantology.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Tamaru has a passion for music and enjoys playing the piano. She also enjoys cooking and exploring new recipes.
