If a tooth is severely broken or damaged by decay, and may not be fixed with a filling or crown, we may recommend that the tooth be removed.
At Hazeldean Dental we have general dentists and a periodontist on site. Our team's approach to dentistry means you will always have access to our combined experience and skill to remove teeth. If you are in pain and require a tooth removal, call us for an appointment. We serve patients from Kanata, Ottawa, Stittsville, and Nepean.
Reasons for Tooth Extractions:
- Primary baby teeth that are preventing the eruption of permanent teeth.
- Badly decayed and/or broken down adult teeth where root canal treatment will not be successful.
- A tooth broken to the gumline may require extraction!
- A tooth that has broken off at the gum line, leaving only the root behind, needs to be extracted. Otherwise, the root can become infected and cause a swelling.
- Once you are numb, the procedure can be quick and painless.
Multiple Teeth Extractions
Multiple teeth extractions may be required in preparation for a patient to receive a partial or full denture. This requires knowledge in both oral surgery as well as removable dentistry. Fortunately, our dentists at Hazeldean Dental in Kanata are skilled in both.
There is no need for you to travel outside our office to an oral surgeon to have a tooth extracted; we have dental specialists onsite that perform the removal.
Abscessed or Infected Teeth
We may recommend the removal of teeth that have become loose over the years due to chronic periodontal gum disease. As well, we may recommend the removal of wisdom teeth that we feel will likely cause problems in the future. While undergoing orthodontic treatment, your orthodontist may feel there is limited space for all of your teeth and recommend that you visit one of our dentist for the removal of certain premolars.
Tooth Extraction Costs
The costs associated with the removal of teeth is highly variable. It can depend upon the complexity of the extraction, if regular digital or panoramic x-rays are required, and other clinical factors. We will be happy to explain our fees and the costs to you before we proceed with your teeth extractions.
Tooth Replacement Options
It is important to replace the lost tooth as soon as possible to prevent other teeth from shifting and causing bite problems that can cause jaw pain. Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement and we recommend that you ask us for a complimentary consultation when considering your tooth-replacement options. Dental implants can be used to replace one or more lost teeth and to secure a full denture firmly in place.
